In a web browser, navigate to the website WhitePages.com and click on “Phone.” Type in the number from which the fax originated and click the search icon.

The search results page provides information on the phone number, including the name of the owner, if available. The results also provide the name of the phone company with which the number is associated, along with the city and ZIP code for the account owner. The page provides the option of purchasing a full report on the owner, if the information is available.

Lodge a complaint with the FCC
If the fax constitutes unwanted junk communication, a complaint can be made through the FCC.gov/complaints website. Click “junk fax” and click “next” to begin the process. Click “complete the form” and fill in as much information as possible about the junk fax. Alternatively, mail the form to the address listed or call to speak to a consumer and mediation specialist Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
