How Do You Reset a Whirlpool Dishwasher Control Board?

To reset the Whirlpool dishwasher control board, press the Off button for three seconds. Once this is complete, unplug the machine, which may require unscrewing the panel to reach the plug. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes, plug the unit back in, and run each of its settings.

Make sure to use a flashlight to properly unplug the Whirlpool dishwasher before resetting the appliance. The wait period allows the memory in the dishwasher to clear before beginning the reset process. Once the machine is powered back on, run the machine from its highest setting to its lowest. For some machines, the high setting is labeled High or Heavy, while others list it as Pots and Pans. Once all the settings have been run, the board has been properly reset and may be used as normal.

To run a diagnostic cycle on your Whirlpool dishwasher, press High Temperature and Air Dry, then press them again to begin the cycle. The cycle may be advanced by pressing the Pots and Pans or Heavy button, as well as the Anti-Bacteria or Cookware button. This function is used to test whether each step in a dishwasher cycle is functioning correctly and is useful for diagnosing problems in the appliance.
