How Do You Repair a Maytag Dryer?

To repair a Maytag dryer, you must first identify the specific issue and then repair or replace any faulty parts. Common problems with Maytag dryers include power supply issues, worn out drum bearings and defective heating elements.
If a Maytag dryer doesn’t start, first check whether the circuit breaker has tripped or fuse if the fuse blew. Replace any blown fuses and reset tripped circuit breakers. Examine the dryer door to make sure it is closed securely and its latch is aligned. Press the start button to start the dryer. If the dryer hums when the start switch is activated, test the switch for continuity and replace it if necessary.
If a dryer doesn’t heat, check if the igniter, heating element or the heating element assembly has been burnt out. Use an ohmmeter to test these parts for continuity, and replace any of them if defective. If the dryer does not heat, but the drum turns, examine the thermal fuse. A thermal fuse helps to prevent fires and protects the dryer from overheating. If the thermal fuse is blown, replace it accordingly.
If a Maytag dryer is noisy, the drum roller, drum bearing or the idler assembly might be worn out. All of these parts are irreparable and can only be replaced. Check whether there is something caught in the blower wheel or if the blower wheel sleeve is worn out. If necessary, replace the blower wheel to solve the problem.
