How Do You Remove a Kenwood Car Stereo?
To remove a Kenwood car stereo, unplug the stereo and pop the plastic casing away from the control panel, then use stereo removal tools and a screwdriver to unclasp the stereo from the vehicle’s dashboard before disconnecting the speaker cables. The entire process should not take longer than a half-hour.
Removing a Kenwood car stereo is pretty straight-forward in most vehicles. A stereo or radio-removal tool will make the process much easier.
- Remove the plastic casing around the stereo
- Use radio-removal keys to detach the pins
- Unscrew the stereo from the dash frame
- Pull the stereo out of the dash
- Disconnect the wires on the back of the system
The plastic casing that holds the stereo in place should easily pop off of the dash with a little force. If necessary, pry the casing off with a screwdriver.
Insert radio-removal keys into the two catch pins on both sides of the radio. The keys will easily detach the pins from the stereo system.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the stereo from the dash frame.
Use the stereo-removal keys to carefully pull the stereo out of the dash. Make sure that none of the wires on the back of the stereo get caught as the stereo is being pulled out.
Carefully disconnect all wires from the back of the stereo to completely remove the stereo from the vehicle.
