How Do You Remove Food Coloring From the Hair?
Wash your hair with a mixture of clarifying shampoo and hair developer to remove food coloring. Repeat as many times as needed until the water runs clear from your hair, and then condition your hair afterwards. You will need clarifying shampoo, hair developer, conditioner and a blow dryer.
-
Wash your hair with clarifying shampoo
Wet your hair with warm water, and wash it with clarifying shampoo. Work the shampoo into your scalp, and distribute it evenly so all of your hair is coated. Rinse with warm water.
-
Mix clarifying shampoo and hair developer
Choose hair developer (which lightens your hair) at the volume you want. Developer ranked as 10 volume has the least lightening effect, and 40 volume has the greatest. In a separate bottle, combine 1 part clarifying shampoo and 1 part hair developer. Shake until mixed.
-
Wash your hair with the shampoo and developer mixture
With your hair still wet, coat it with the shampoo and developer mixture. Scrub thoroughly, wait five minutes, and rinse. Check to see if the color is gone; if it isn’t, repeat the shampoo and rinse process until the water runoff is clear.
-
Condition your hair
Add the conditioner to your damp hair and wait five minutes before rinsing it out.
-
Dry your hair
Once all of the color is removed and you have conditioned your hair, lightly towel dry your hair, and then use a blow dryer to dry each layer.
