According to the rules of Islam, Muslims are forbidden to eat pork. This restriction comes directly from the Qur’an, which states that a Muslim cannot eat dead meat, blood or the flesh of swine.
One of the primary reasons why pork is forbidden in the Qur’an and the Bible is that both consider the animal to be unclean. Pigs are scavengers and eat almost anything, including dirt and feces. While Islam is not the only religion to advise against the consumption of pork, it is the most prevalent. Some branches of the Jewish religion also restrict the consumption of pork.
