How Do You Get a Refund From Kia’s Fuel Economy Reimbursement Program?
Reimbursements for the Kia Fuel Economy Ratings Adjustment Program can be processed at your local Kia dealership. At Kiampginfo.com, you can find your reimbursement amount by entering your Kia’s vehicle identification number, customer ID and mileage into the Reimbursement Estimator tool. To receive the payment, you must visit a Kia dealer in order for the company to confirm the mileage.
For more information, contact the Kia Fuel Economy Ratings Adjustment Program Center at 855-912-5648. On Nov. 2, 2012, Kia announced ratings adjustments for approximately 300,000 vehicles from the 2011, 2012 and 2013 model years. The reimbursements are available for those vehicles throughout their periods of use including changes in ownership. For owners unable to return to a Kia dealership periodically to have mileage confirmed, Kia offers a one-time lump sum payment.
The basis of the program is discrepancy in the automaker’s advertised fuel economy figures for certain models and the actual figures determined in road tests by industry experts and vehicle owners. The Fuel Economy Ratings Adjustment Program was designed to give Kia owners the difference in what they pay for fuel and what they would have paid if the initial advertised figures had been accurate plus an extra 15 percent of that difference for inconvenience.
