What Refrigerator Brands Are Made in the USA?

Refrigerator brands made in the U.S. are Sub-Zero, Perlick, Viking and GE’s Monogram refrigerator line, as of 2015. Additional refrigerators made in the U.S. include Dacor and Thermador. Refrigerator companies that build both in the U.S. and overseas include Maytag, Whirlpool and GE.

For an item to be labeled “Made in America,” the Federal Trade Commission rules state that it must have all of its major parts and processing of U.S. origin. A refrigerator built in the U.S. may not truly be American-made.

Sub-Zero and Perlick are greatly respected manufacturers. They both make refrigerators in Wisconsin. Viking manufactures its professional-style refrigerators and other appliances in Greenwood, Mississippi.

GE is working to greatly increase domestic appliance production by investing $1 billion in new product lines in Louisville, Kentucky. Additional investments for refrigerator plants have been made in Decatur, Illinois, Bloomington, Indiana and Selmer, Tennessee. The GE Monogram line of refrigerators is made in Selmer, Tennessee. Refrigerators from this line are noted for their efficient shelving design and sealed food storage drawers.

Some of Frigidaire’s refrigerators, such as the 15 to 18 cubic foot top-freezer models and premium wine coolers, are built in Anderson, South Carolina. Some Electrolux built-in premium refrigeration products are manufactured in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
