Pyramid building in acrobatic gymnastics is when a group of gymnasts make a human pyramid by standing or kneeling on top of one another with only one person on the top level. It is especially popular with cheerleaders.
Gymnasts build a tower that has a certain number of people, either kneeling or standing, on the bottom row . Each succeeding row contains one less person than the preceding row, until a single person makes up the top row. This is a highly skilled activity with potential for injury in unskilled participants. Professional water skiers also perform this routine in ski shows.
