A regulation NBA basketball must contain between 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 pounds of pressure per square inch, or PSI. The ball also must exhibit an official NBA approval mark.
At the beginning of an NBA game, each team must have access to six balls during the warm-up period. A regulation backboard measures 6 feet wide and 3 1/2 feet tall. The inside diameter of the basket ring must be 18 inches, and the ring must be painted orange. The net should be between 15 and 18 inches long. The upper edge of the basket ring is mounted 10 feet above the floor.
