When saying the Texas pledge, a person should place his right hand over his heart. Head coverings should first be removed with the right hand and placed on the left shoulder so that the right hand is still able to be placed over the heart.
If the person is in uniform, he should stand at attention, remain silent and engage in a military salute.
The Texas pledge may be recited at any public or private meeting where the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance is recited and at any historical state event or celebration.
The Texas pledge of allegiance is: “Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.”
