John Quincy Archibald, the main character in the film "John Q" starring Denzel Washington, is a fictional character; there is no real John Q. serving time anywhere. The movie's producer, Mark Burg, and its director, Nick Cassavetes, have both confirmed that the movie is not based on a real person.
In the popular 2002 drama, John Q. takes over a hospital and holds those inside hostage, demanding that his son, who is dying from complications due to an enlarged heart, be put on the heart transplant list. The movie is rated PG-13 for violence, language and intense thematic elements, according to the Internet Movie Database.
