Princess chicken is a Chinese dish that includes chicken, mushrooms, red bell pepper, cashews and five-spice powder. The chicken is marinated prior to cooking for enhanced flavoring.
Princess chicken can be prepared with whole chicken breasts or with pieces based on serving preferences. After marinating the chicken in soy sauce, seasonings, sherry and cornstarch, oil is heated in a wok.The meat must be set aside briefly while the onions, ginger, mushrooms and peppers are cooked. The chicken is then returned to the wok for the final cooking of the dish. Sugar and soy sauce are added in the final stages before the dish is served over or alongside rice.
