Is It Possible to Evolve Kadabra Without Trading It in Pokemon FireRed?

According to the Pokedex, it is not possible to evolve Kadabra in Pokemon FireRed without trading it to another player. Kadabra is one of several types of Pokemon that is designed to evolve only once traded to another player. However, there are ways to circumvent this requirement.

The first and easiest way to evolve Kadabra without giving it up to a friend is to trade with one’s own self. This requires two copies of Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen Version, as well as two Nintendo DS consoles. The player must connect the consoles together wirelessly through a Pokemon Center in the game, and trade the Kadabra from one game to another. The Kadabra should evolve when it reaches the second console. The player must then trade the evolved Alakazam back to the original system so that it is in both Pokedexes.

The second way to obtain an Alakazam is to bypass the evolution process entirely and use the breeding system. An Alakazam egg can be hatched from any of the following groups of parents:

  • Alakazam and Kadabra
  • Mr. Mime and Mr. Mime
  • Mr. Mime and Hawlucha
  • Hitmonchan, Electrivire, Magmar, Magmortar or Medicham in any combination
  • Elgyem and Beheeyem
  • Makuhita, Hariyama or Sableye in any combination
  • Meditite and Medicham
  • Spinda and Spinda
  • Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam, Drowzee, Hypno, Mr. Mime or Spinda in any combination
  • Hitmonchan, Electabuzz, Electivire, Magmortar or Midecham in any combination

When the egg hatches, it will hatch as an Alakazam.
