The place where nuns live is called a convent. They can also live in parishes, mother houses, schools and regular houses.

A convent is a community consisting of nuns just as a monastery is made up of priests. Convents are often associated with the Roman Catholic Church, although they are also tied to other religious groups. Some nuns live in mother houses or schools if their job is associated with education. For example, many religious schools have nuns on staff. In modern society, nuns also live together in regular houses. This is often true if the church or community lacks a convent or other type of nunnery.
