In the United States, around 67.8 percent of criminals were arrested again within 3 years of release. The research involved 404,638 convicts in 30 states. Around 76.6 percent of the prisoners were rearrested within 5 years of release, and approximately 56.7 got arrested again within 1 year of being released.
The term “recidivism” refers to a person’s reversion to felonious activities. It directly results to a rearrest, re-conviction or re-imprisonment of the criminal. Around 56.7 percent of the felons who were retaken into custody were apprehended by the end of the initial year of incarceration, based on the same report. The majority of the repeat felons were property offenders.
