Pelee mums, also known as Chrysanthemum x morifolium ‘Pelee’, are technically perennials, but they are not cold-hardy. While they can be grown outdoors in USDA zones 7, 8 and 9, they are unlikely to live through a winter with harsh temperatures.
Pelee mums have bi-colored petals with brilliant yellow petals edged in red-orange. This showy color combination makes the mums especially popular as potted plants for display in the autumn. An ideal location for growing Pelee mums indoors should offer 12 hours of sunlight and temperatures of 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Potted Pelee mums are thirsty, requiring frequent deep watering to thrive.
