Generally speaking, Pantene shampoo is not bad for the overall health of a person’s hair. However, an ingredient in the shampoo could be harmful to a person's health.
According to the Environmental Working Group's Cosmetic Safety Database, most shampoos and personal care products contain a chemical called sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Pantene shampoo is one that contains this chemical.
SLS gives most shampoos the thick lather, and it helps to clean the hair. The chemical is known to cause skin irritation. EWG's research pages on Pantene shampoo show concerns about many chemicals within it and state that the biggest hazard is an allergic reaction.
According to the data, the shampoo is not bad for the hair, but it can be bad for the skin.
