The NFL Network is owned by the National Football League. The network launched in 2003 and covers both the season and off-season of the NFL 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The launch of the network was in response to the appetite for professional football in the United States and due to the high broadcasting fees from other networks that threatened to hurt the revenues of the league. The NFL Network’s CEO is Steve Bornstein, who used to work for ESPN.
In addition to weekly programming, the network broadcasts one football game a week on Thursday nights during the season. In 2014, the network broadcast these games in conjunction with CBS.
