What Is Orthodox Medicine?
Orthodox medicine is a system of medicine in which medical doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals deliver treatment for diseases and their symptoms to the patients through the use of pharmaceuticals or surgery. Orthodox medicine is also known as Western medicine.
Another term for orthodox medicine is modern medicine. Modern medicine denotes a practice that goes back to antiquity but is founded by scientific research and stringency. Other types of medicine include those of ancient medicine, naturopathic medicine, alternative medicine, complementary medicine and others. Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine are non-Western medicines as well. Some consider the term Western medicine as being misleading, as it now includes treatments found worldwide.
