How Do You Open a Blank Page to Type a Letter?

To open a blank document using Microsoft Word, first open Microsoft Word. Select New from the menu on the left, and then select Blank Document in the gallery of templates displayed. You can also type Ctrl+N to open a new document.

Microsoft Word offers several options for opening a new document. The easiest way is to use the keyboard shortcut that opens a blank page without having to choose from a list of templates. Another way is to create a desktop shortcut for Word. Clicking its icon automatically opens a blank document in which you can start typing.

If you’re writing a business letter and need formatting help, open Word, click the Office button in the upper-left corner of the window, and select New from the options listed. In addition to the Blank Document templates, the gallery offers templates for business letters and other types of business correspondence, such as memos, stationery and fax cover sheets. If you’re doing your own formatting, look for margin-setting options on the Page Layout tab. Set tabs and other indents using the options listed in the Paragraph menu on the Home tab.
