An objective description essay describes an object, place or person with factual details. The writer avoids imparting his personal opinions or feelings into the essay. The goal is to use words to create a picture of the item being described.

Objective description essays use sensory details to create description, according to About.com. The writer focuses on what he sees, hears, feels, tastes or smells as he writes without sharing his response to those details. Although objective description aims to be factual, it is always imprecise because the author is subjectively selecting the details that he feels are necessary in the description.
