The first Pippi Longstocking book was released in 1945, and the series has been translated in different languages around the world. In 1950, the first Pippi Longstocking film was released. Though the storyline and some characters were changed, the film was based on the first three books. Over the years, the books have also been adapted into a television series and even an American feature film.
