Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with religious worship and gift-giving immediately after Ramadan to start Shaw’waal. On the Muslim calendar, Shaw’waal is the tenth month, and this holiday is a time to give thanks.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration allows Muslims to be joyous for their strength, health and the opportunities that they have thanks to Allah. Muslims no longer have to fast as they do during Ramadan and they participate in the Eid prayer at mosques or other outdoor locations. They give gifts to nearby loved ones and contact distant relatives with holiday greetings. The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration goes on for 3 days and it is an official school and government holiday.
