What Are the Multiples of 24?

The multiples of 24 are an infinite series of numbers that result from 24 being multiplied by any whole number. The first five multiples of 24 are 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120. These numbers come as a result of 24 being multiplied by 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

One of the most commonly used multiples is when a number is multiplied by itself. This is referred to as squaring the number and is denoted by the number being raised to the second power, indicated by a two in the upper-right hand corner.

It’s easy to add a little complexity to this, however. Common multiples are the multiples that two numbers share. For example, the numbers 2 and 3 share the following three multiples: 6, 12 and 18. As with regular multiples of a single number, this list may be infinite. The least common multiple of these numbers is 6. Typically, zero is not included when determining the least common multiple.

The factors of a number shouldn’t be confused with multiples. Factors are the whole numbers that are multiplied with another whole number to produce a result. The factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24.
