How Much Is an Uncut Diamond Worth?

As of 2014, selling prices for commercial uncut diamonds are estimated to be around $1,850 per carat. Fine rough diamonds sell for more than $2,400 per carat.

Even though uncut diamonds have seen an overall 14 percent price increase each year since 1949, there are no standard prices set by the industry. One of the reasons is uniqueness of each gem in terms of color, structure, and purity. Depending on the crystalline structure, each uncut stone will have different yield. Stone-shaped diamonds boast of 50 percent yield, cleavage-shaped stones reach up to 35 percent yield and flat-structured diamonds reach up to 25 percent yield.
