A surfboard weighs about 3 kilograms or 6 to 7 pounds. This is for a surfboard 6 feet in length. However, the weight of the surfboard depends on the size, the level of experience of the surfer and the material of the surfboard.

Traditional surfboards are much longer, heavier and made from wood. Modern surfboards are lighter, smaller and made from fiberglass.

A surfboard is not just a plank of wood or plastic. It has features such as the nose, the tail, the thickness and the contours of the board that need to be checked before buying one.

An experienced surfer can choose a smaller surfboard. A beginner must choose a bigger surfboard for greater stability and better maneuverability.
