While rookie professional volleyball players can take home around $8,000 per season, many of the top volleyball players in the world make more than $100,000 per year. These players earn their money through training and performing well in games as well as through sponsorships and public appearances.
Most high level volleyball players from the United States train and play in professional leagues in foreign countries in-between Olympic years. This is because other countries like Brazil, South Korea and Russia all have a high demand for professional players. After playing through a whole season on a professional contract and factoring in sponsorships, the highest level professional volleyball players can make more than $1 million in a year.
