How Much Do You Pay a Bartender at a Private Party?

Rates can vary depending on location, date of the event and special skills of the bartender, but the basic party rate for a bartender can range from $20 to $50 per hour per worker. Rates are higher on holidays and special occasions.
In addition to an hourly wage, it is also customary to tip bartenders for their service. Other special arrangements, such as transportation to or from the event, are also sometimes included in the contract. The amount of bartenders hired should be determined by the amount of event guests. Ideally, there should be one bartender for every 100 guests if beer and wine are the only drinks being served. If mixed drinks are to be served, then more than one bartender should be hired.
