How Much Dry Parsley Equals Fresh Parsley?

It takes approximately one portion of dried parsley to equal three portions of fresh chopped parsley, whether the measurement is teaspoons, tablespoons or cups. For example, 1 teaspoon of dried parsley flakes equals 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley. This ratio applies to all herbs, including oregano, thyme, rosemary and basil.

When herbs are dried, the flavor concentrates, becoming more potent. In the United States, commercially packaged parsley flakes are typically made with curled-leaf parsley. Fresh flat-leaf and curled-leaf parsley can be dried at home in the oven or a food dehydrator. Home-dried parsley, which should be stored in an airtight container, stays fresh for up to one year.
