How Much Caffeine Is in a Can of Pepsi?
According to Pepsico, the manufacturer of Pepsi, there is 39 mg of caffeine in one 12-ounce can of the carbonated beverage. Sites such as Caffeine Informer report a higher amount of caffeine, but all information agrees that one 12-ounce can of Pepsi is in the 38-39 mg range.
Some Pepsi beverages have different amounts of caffeine in them. For example, Pepsi MAX, which is advertised as a high-caffeine beverage, has 69 mg of caffeine per 12-ounce serving. Diet Pepsi has slightly less caffeine than regular Pepsi and has 35 mg per 12-ounce serving. Pepsi One has 54 mg per 12-ounce serving and Pepsi Throwback has 38 mg per 12-ounce serving.
Pepsico also manufactures other sodas, such as Mountain Dew. A can of Mountain Dew has approximately 54 mg per 12-ounce serving and Diet Mountain Dew has the same amount. Pepsico also manufactures energy drinks, such as AMP. AMP is available in a 16-ounce can and the caffeine amount in one can is 160 mg. Sugar free AMP has slightly less at 142 mg per can. These are comparable with other energy drinks on the market. One 8-ounce can of Red Bull has 80 mg of caffeine. In contrast to Pepsi, regular Coca-Cola has 35 mg of caffeine per 12-ounce can.
