How Much Is a Bank of Chattanooga Two-Dollar Note From 1863 Worth?

As of 2014, the 1863 two-dollar notes issued by The First National Bank of Chattanooga carry a minimum value of $400, and bills in perfect condition are worth at least $6,000. Only 5,900 sheets of these bills were printed, making them rare and highly sought by collectors.

While each of the notes is similar in appearance, the bank name at the bottom varies. The bills are often called “lazy deuces” by collectors due to the large horizontal “2” on the face. The National Bank issued 24 different types of national currency spread among different denominations until ceasing its printing operations in 1934.
