Mounding perennials grow in a bush-like form, typically getting wider than they are tall, according to SFGate. Mounding perennials include the curious orange monkeyflower, or Mimulus aurantiacus ?Mimapri,? and the meadow clary, or Salvia pratensis.
Mounding perennials can be good ground covers. Other uses include container plants and garden spot-fillers.
They will either die back to the ground and resprout in the spring, or will stay evergreen throughout the winter, depending on the cultivar. Mounding perennials have a growth season that lasts more than a single year. Planting perennials is a good way to take up excess space in the landscape or garden.
