“The Old Farmer’s Almanac” indicates that morning glories can bloom in from early summer to the first frost. According to About.com, morning glories begin blooming around July or August. The trumpet-shaped flowers typically open around dawn and last through mid-morning, but the flowers on some newer varieties last longer.
Morning glories are grown as annuals, but some varieties are perennial in frost-free regions. They grow best in full sun with well-drained soil. Morning glories bloom on a vine that can be trained to cover trellises, pergolas and fences. The vine grows quickly, reaching 10 feet or more just two months after the seed has sprouted.
