Who Is Mollie Busta?
Mollie Busta Lange is an American multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and arranger. She is associated with musical acts such as Squeezebox and featured alongside her husband Ted Lange as well as the Jim Busta Band, her father’s polka outfit. Additionally, she hosts and co-produces the “Mollie B Polka Party” show, broadcast on RFD-TV and FamilyNet.
Busta was raised in rural Minnesota. She began her music career early, providing vocals for the Jim Busta Band at 3 years old and later playing piano for the group at age 8. Busta also sang in school choirs and played various instruments in school bands. In her secondary education, she began arranging and writing original compositions, in addition to working as the student director of the high school band.
Busta attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in music, specializing in trumpet and vocals. She later matriculated to Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, where she earned a Master of Arts in instruction. After graduation, she moved to Ohio to join Squeezebox, a renamed and reformed lineup of The Bratwurst Boys.
Alongside a demanding musical career, as of 2015, Busta works part-time as a private music instructor, primarily coaching students on piano and vocals.
