Which Minivans Have All-Wheel Drive?

In 2014, the only minivan available in the United States with all-wheel drive is the Toyota Sienna. Approximately 17 percent of Toyota Siennas sold are equipped with this feature. Chrysler offered all-wheel drive in its minivans produced from 1991 until 2004. The company eliminated the all-wheel drive option after 2004 as the rear drive shafts interfered with its Stow ‘n Go seating and storage system

According to AutoTrader, the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna are the two most popular minivans. Honda cites fuel economy as the main reason for not offering all-wheel drive for its minivan. The 2014 Odyssey, which is only offered with front-wheel drive, is rated to get 22 miles per gallon combined city and highway driving. The 2014 Sienna is rated at 21 MPG combined with front-wheel drive and 19 MPG combined with all-wheel drive.

Automotive News reports that the next generation Chrysler Town & Country minivan is likely to have all-wheel drive as an available option. That feature is expected to be offered in the 2016 model year. In addition to Chrysler’s, other older minivans that had available all-wheel drive included the Buick Terraza in 2005 and 2006, the Dodge Caravan from 2001 to 2004, the Oldsmobile Silhouette from 2002 to 2004, the Pontiac Montana from 2002 to 2006 and the 2005 Saturn Relay.
