Michelin North America., Inc., makes B.F. Goodrich tires. The Goodrich Corporation, formerly called B.F. Goodrich Company, stopped making tires in 1988 and sold the business and the B.F. Goodrich name to Michelin.
The Goodrich Corporation was a U.S. maker of airplane components with headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. The company was started in Ohio with the name Goodrich, Tew & Co. in 1870 by Dr. Benjamin Goodrich. In 1880, the company was renamed as B.F. Goodrich Company, in the 1980s as BFGoodrich and in 2001 as Goodrich Corporation. During the 1980s, the company was the largest maker of tires and rubber in the world, assisted by joining with Uniroyal in 1986. United Technologies Corporation bought Goodrich in 2012.
