What Is the Meaning of Galations 5:22-23?

The meaning of Galations 5:22-23 is to tell believers what the Holy Spirit can provide them with (the fruits of the spirit) if they follow the nine manifestations of the spirit. Those fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The nine manifestations of the spirit are love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. These manifestations are detailed in I Corinthians in Chapter 12. In order to get the fruit of the spirit, believers must follow these laws and work every day at being the best version of themselves for God that can be.

Love is the very first “fruit of the spirit” that is listed in Galations 5:22-23. It is actually written as the Greek word “agape,” which means “love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation.” This “love” is the love that God has for all of his children and can be shown towards others. This love is immense as even when the people were unlovable, God loved the people and He allowed his only son to die for humankind’s sins.

The full Galations 5:22-23 verse reads, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. This is the translated verse from the New International Version of the Bible.
