The Mazda3 is manufactured at automotive plants in Japan and Mexico, as of March 2015. Mazda’s Mexican plants have been in production since early 2014.

Production for the Mazda3, which was first introduced in 2003, happens largely in Japan. Mazda manufactures and assembles the Mazda3 at its facility in Hofu, Japan. The Mexican plant, which is located in Salamanca, Guanajuato, provides supplementary manufacturing. Most vehicles from the company’s Mexican location go to the United States.

The Mazda3 is in its third generation; the most recent model was released in 2013 and began production in 2014. Japanese distributors call the car the Mazda Axela.
