Mayfield Ice cream is transported through their logistics fleet, which features over 500 semi-trucks. The trucks are equipped with special refrigerated trailers that keep the ice cream frozen throughout its transport.
It's estimated that Mayfield dairy trucks reach over 12 million miles a year. Mayfield employs over 700 truck drivers, all of who handle ice cream and regular dairy products.
These special refrigerated trucks differ from smaller insulated vehicles in that they can be ice-cooled. The cooling apparatus is usually powered by a small diesel engine. However, some trucks may also use dry ice as a way to keep their load cold.
