PEVA is a biodegradable, non-chlorinated vinyl which is commonly used in shower curtains, plastic wrap for food and sports padding. It is also called polyethylene vinyl acetate, or ethylene vinyl acetate.
PEVA is a safe alternative to using PVC shower curtains that can give off many volatile organic compounds which can be toxic, for the first month after removing it from its packaging. PEVA can also be used as a drug delivery device, when it is mixed with a drug and implanted, in order to slowly release the drug compound into the body in time. Top-of-the-line soccer cleats, boxing gloves, ski boots and bicycle saddles are also common uses of PEVA, too.
