How Many Tomatoes Are in a Half-Bushel?
Last Updated Mar 25, 2020 11:41:10 PM ET
Half of a bushel of tomatoes is 26 1/2 pounds. The number of tomatoes in a bushel depends on the size of the tomatoes, as each variety is different in size.
Bushels are often used in food processing, distribution and retail, as these industries handle large quantities of produce on a regular basis. One bushel of tomatoes yields about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lbs., or 1 quart of processed, canned tomatoes. The bushel measurement is different for different types of produce. For example, one bushel of broccoli is 23 to 25 lbs., and one bushel of cabbage is only 2 to 6 lbs.
