How Many Times a Day Should You Go to the Toilet?

On average, urination should occur six to seven times over a 24 hour period, according to the Bladder and Bowel Foundation. Bowel movements can occur as often as three times daily or three times each week, according to WebMD.
Frequency of urination is ultimately dependent on the activity, age, health, medication(s) absorbed and amount of daily fluid intake. More than seven times daily may indicate a frequency problem associated with an overactive bladder.
Ingested food may take a day or two to excrete through the bowels, with diets rich in fiber prompting more frequent movements. The rate and amount of food ingested is the biggest indicator of the number of movements a person experiences on a regular basis.
