How Many Shots Are in a Pint of Vodka?

In the United States, 1 pint of vodka would yield about 10.6 shots. In England, however, 1 pint of vodka would yield about 18.9 shots; in Italy, it would yield about 11.8 shots.

The reason for the discrepancy is that the shot measurement is not standard throughout the world. In the United States, a shot is 1.5 fluid ounces. Since 1 pint is equal to 16 ounces, dividing 16 by 1.5 produces a result of 10.6. In England, however, a shot is only about 0.84 of a fluid ounce, and in Italy, a shot is the equivalent of 1.35 fluid ounces. When 16 ounces is divided by those respective shot sizes, the result varies.
