USA Today reports that there are roughly 210 million licensed drivers in the United States. Of these, 105.7 million are women and 104.3 million are men, making this the first time more women than men have had driver’s licenses since the mid-1990s.

Currently there are roughly 100 million more licensed drivers in the United States than there were in 1970. At that time, there were about 112 million Americans that had drivers’ licenses, which amounted to 487 drivers for every 1,000 Americans. Currently, there are 685 drivers for every 1,000 Americans, according to the Office of Highway Policy Information.
