How Many Parts Does the Average Car Have?

The average car is made up of about 1,800 separate parts. This includes some large components, such as the engine, which is inserted as a unit during the car-making process but contains thousands of individual pieces itself.
Each car generally requires between 4,500 and 4,800 welds to fit together the required pieces. A standard car takes about 19 hours to assemble in a factory. However, the assembly systems are huge, with thousands of employees on shift work. Robots and rolling assembly tracks are also part of the process. Numerous cars are put together in a manufacturing plant at one time. A normal production day yields about 1,450 cars.
