According to Waitrose, it takes between 13 and 15 oranges to produce a 1-liter bottle of orange juice. The size of the oranges plays a role in determining how much juice can be squeezed.
Though commercial orange juice is made in a variety of ways, freshly squeezed juice retains the highest amounts of beneficial vitamins. The flavor of squeezed juice compares to eating fresh oranges. Fresh oranges can be squeezed by hand or by using one of a variety of special tools made for that purpose. Fresh orange juice can be kept for about 12 days in a sealed, refrigerated container.
