As of today, Usain Bolt has won eight gold medals. He won three gold medals in the 2008 summer Olympics, three gold medals in the 2012 summer Olympics, and three more gold medals in the 2016 summer Olympics. However, when retesting samples from the 2008 Olympics it was discovered one of Bolt’s teammates had violated anti-doping rules. As a consequence Bolt lost his 2008 gold medal for the 4×100 relay.

Usain Bolt won his eight gold medals in three different track and field events: the men’s 100 meter, men’s 200 meter, and men’s 4-by-100 meter relay. He initially won three gold medals in each of these events, before having to return the 2008 4×100 medal because his teammate had violated anti-doping rules. Usain Bolt set the world record for the men’s 100 meter in the 2009 World Championships in Berlin with a time of 9.58 seconds.
