How Many Books Are There in the Holy Bible?

The number of books in the Bible differs between branches of religious faith. In the Protestant canon, the Bible has 66 books in total, with 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament, according to MinisterBook.

The Hebrew Bible roughly equates to the 39 books of the Protestant Old Testament, but it is composed of 24 books that are ordered, organized and titled differently. The Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Syrian Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox faiths all accept varying numbers of additional books in the Old Testament canon. Generally, all branches of the Christian faith accept the total overall content of the Protestant New Testament, but some order the books differently.
