William Shakespeare wrote a variety of different types of plays, from comedies to historical pieces, between the early 1590s and his death in 1616. Some of his more popular works include “Romeo and Juliet,” “Macbeth” and “Hamlet.” Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed by a few different companies before he formed his own after the 1592 outbreak of the plague. His works are still performed around the world and have been made into many movies.
